“Hightide, it lingers then the waters retreat. Treasures of Neptune are deposited then temporarily abandoned - a potpourri of artistic opportunity” - Elizabeth M Taylor.
Elizabeth is a resident of Waiheke Island and was born in the Hauraki Gulf region. Since 2012, she has been combing the local beaches for driftwood and other flotsam and jetsam. Piece by piece, these materials are painstakingly selected and fitted as found, into the mosaic of Elizabeths’ creative vision.
Throughout her adult life, she has travelled widely and lived in numerous countries. Her passion for design, texture and pattern was enriched and extended by immersion in local cultures, however, she did not hone in on her own artistic medium until living on Waiheke Island. Here, Elizabeth rediscovered her appreciation for her home and found on the seashore the inspiration to create original treasures of her own.
